Drag Queens

RuPaul
Lately I have been re-embracing my love of Burlesque. I've not been performing as much as I should be so I am really trying to get into a better frame of mind when it comes to my shows and the business end of the deal. One thing I lack skill in is my makeup. I always feel like I have enough on, but then when I see photos and video you can barely make out my features. So at the same time of trying to research stage makeup, the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race has begun. Now I have always loved me some Drag Queens. I am talking the all out showgirl variety.

Watching this show while watching videos of bad Burlesque has put me in a bitchy mood and apparently I think I am a Drag Diva now. My catty showgirl alter ego has been named "The Fucking Glitter Bitch". While my pissiness is rude and mean, it shouldn't be taken seriously or personally. Admitting it comes from my own pissiness towards myself for my lack of performing it should never be taken as anything but stoopid. My insults if you will, are just a way of trying to be an exaggerated funny that just uses something as a jumping board and then takes a life of it's own. Basically, all talk.

But back to the point of this post. I have always liked men looking like ladies... My first celebrity idol (of any celebrity) was Boy George. While he wasn't a full on Queen, he did wear the makeup and look feminine.

Knowing how much time, creativity, money, and work these men put into their acts I can't help, but to consider them as inspirations into my own work in Burlesque. So here are some photos of some beautiful Drag Queens...
